A while ago I tweeted: “Honestly nobody warned me how long it takes to peel a clove of garlic..” @TheDayILived
While I was in England I started cooking, which if you knew me before I left is both surprising and hilarious. I began with simple meals like pasta and chicken, even chicken parmesan to spice things up a bit- you can catch me on the next Iron Chef.
Since I had upped my cooking game, I quickly realized that most recipes were in kg and such because of the U.K. htmls. If you read my “18 Things I Don’t Understand” post, you see how this would cause an issue...I will never understand the metric system so obviously there is room for error, or as I like to think of it, “creative wiggle room that may or may not poison me”.
I think my best mistake so far though was a stir fry I made. The recipe called for two cloves of garlic...so me being me, I mixed up ‘clove’ and ‘head’ and I ended up putting two heads of garlic into one serving of food. Was it delicious? Heavenly. Was I low on garlic after? Yes, yes I was.
Some mistakes are good things and have taught me three very important lessons:
- Cooking is good
- Garlic is better
- I am not a vampire
