Finals Survival Guide

Finals: The only thing that can strike fear into the hearts of high school and college students everywhere...They're even scarier than the (7 missed calls) notification from your mom that popped up on your phone last night.

Finals are the point when you get slammed with seemingly endless ammounts of work and the classes you seem to have slept through start pulling on the strings of your nerves. Suddenly deadlines start hurdling at you...you could've sworn they were weeks away and you are left wondering how they came so quickly. How will you ever finish the papers, the speeches AND the presentations? Who will speek at your funeral when you can't make it through the endless exams? Where are you even supposed to begin??? Well, if you're like me and have Redbull stocked up in your refrigerator, then you are off to a pretty good start.

Here are 5 easy tips that will garuntee your success and a happy progress report:

1. Make a plan: All successes are owed to a great person constructing a plan...and you're pretty great so start making that To Do list and stick to it.

2. Don't cram: You will end up with a headache and probably not your best grade. Save the cramming for binge watching as many episodes on Netflix as you can into one day, not your exams. Starting gradually about two weeks in advance will help you keep your life in one piece when the time comes.

3. Sleep: Yup you read that right. Hit the sack right after you hit the books. Studies show that you retain more information when studying right before bed as well as with a full night's rest.

4. Divide and conquer: Similiarly to the fact that you can't fit an entire slice of pizza in your mouth at once (even if you wish you could), the same concept applies to learning. Your brain will process and retain information better in smaller chunks, another reason not to cram. Remember, small bites!

5. Personal Care: You will do poorly if you are more concentrated on where to hide all of your tissues during your test than the actual questions. Make sure to budget time for exercise and full meals so you don't get sick. And no...chips do not count as a full meal.

Follow these tips and stay calm. You've made it this far and if I could pass my AP Psychology tests, you will be able to make it. Best of luck!
