Making Sunshine

For some odd reason, I find the gloomy looking and overcast days to be my favorite and not just because it makes for fantastic selfie lighting. It gives a sense of physicality to the abstract concept of ‘making your own sunshine’. So what does that mean anyway? I’m sure you’ve heard a phrase or a line similar to, “her face just lit up”- that would be the sunshine I’m talking about.

Smiling- I love smiling at strangers and waving to my friends on campus because it just brightens up my day. I know I sound like Buddy the Elf on crack, but then again, who doesn’t love Buddy the Elf?

Progress- Lots of people post fitness progression pictures which displays the incredible physical transformation that they have undergone, but why can’t we do that for our psyche? You go through mental and emotional changes constantly and it’s just as important to be proud of your adapted personality as you think it is to show off your “swole” biceps on Instagram.

Contagious- Happiness can spread just as quickly as that nasty cold when school starts up…yes, that quickly. While you should probably get your flu shot to prevent that annual doctor visit, try to be receptive to positive energy…unless you want to be sad. But if that’s the case, you’re probably reading the wrong blog.

The funny thing about light is that it finds its way into the smallest of places, especially when it peeks through the trees at just at the right angle to completely blind you. By making your own sunshine, it might give others just that bit of light that they needed to get through their day- shine on readers.

Follow my Twitter and try and spread some sunshine on this gloomy day!
