Naps and Negligence

I am too lazy to stop being lazy. I keep telling myself, “Today is the day where I will sit and write my blog posts that I’ve been thinking of and I will catch up on typing my notes.”
What do I do instead? Get into water fights with my flatmates or have ‘just one drink’ with my friends.

I recently moved to the UK for school and since then, things have totally changed. At first, I spent time trying to adjust and immerse myself into the culture which takes a lot more energy than I had expected. This provided me with the ultimate justification for my excessive napping, eating out, and disregard of every responsibility ever.

However, that same reason soon developed into an excuse for late nights of going out and neglecting to return people’s messages, or do anything productive for that matter. So here I am sitting in a Starbucks, sitting in the lump of things that I have been putting off.

There is no grand lesson for this article, no worldly advice or funny anecdotes - or not so funny ones depending on your views of my writing- the message here is to just do it. I’m going all Nike on you right now because that’s actually the only thing I have to say. Go to your coffee shop and sit and just dive head first into the overwhelming pile of horrible crap that you let pile up.

If you were waiting for a sign, this is it. And who knows, maybe if you play nice with the baristas they’ll give you a pile of whipped cream as high as my to-do list.
