5 Reasons Grandparents are the Best

1. They always know how to cheer you up

Whenever I’m sad I take a little drive to my grandparent’s house for dinner. Not only am I bombarded with delicious food, but I get to hear their stories that help me refocus my perspective on life.

2. They’re cooler than you

They’re always the best dressed, the cutest couple, the wisest people, have a contagious laugh, and make for the best company.

3. They know you well

Since the beginning of time -or at least the beginning of my life, so same thing- my grandparents have always known what I loved. They give me cookies, fueled my love for reading by bringing me to Barnes & Noble and buying me bookmarks, and they even cut my grilled cheese into shapes. They still do and I’m almost 20, are you jealous yet?

4. They’re effortlessly thoughtful

I look forward to a card from my grandparents for every holiday and I love coming home to finding them by my seat at the table with a cute note. They call for every occasion and always remember the important things I have coming up when everyone else seems to forget.

5. They’re always there

They have also been there for every event in my life; every play, every soccer game, and every band concert- even when I first started out and a ‘band concert’ consisted of screeching instruments, bleeding ears and sobbing from the crowd. They stuck by me from a fifth grade, humid auditorium to Carnegie Hall.

So if you’re as lucky as me to still have your any of your grandparents around, make sure that you remind them that you love them...and hope that one day you might even become as legendary as they are.
